Functional Movement with Abs
This Thought of the Week is all about using Pilates to increase your strength, stability and power both on and off the mat!
Pilates as a movement methodology is effective movement training on several levels! It can be used as your only movement practice (highly effective on its own) or can be used to supplement other workouts for increased strength, stability and efficiency. If you notice that you are running faster, lifting heavier, and feeling better in your movements off the mat, it's because the slow and focused movements you are doing in Pilates retrain your brain to utilize those same movement patterns in your higher impact, more dynamic movements like running, spinning and weight lifting.
This week we'll continue to focus on activating your core to both mobilize and stabilize your pelvis and spine, and I'll connect the dots for you on how leveling up these slower movement patterns can translate to feeling better in your more dynamic workouts!
