The Lesson of Rest and Recovery
While the equinox is still a few weeks away, it’s that tender time of year to start saying goodbye to long languishing summer days filled with sunshine, time with friends and family, and an overall sense of abundance.
I’m currently writing this newsletter on the plane on my way back from an incredible vacation in Spain, where I pushed myself to really lean into a full rest and recovery period away from work, and all that goes into running my own business.
During my time away I was reflecting that being able to work from anywhere over the last few years has been a gift, but letting myself take actual time off despite being able to work from anywhere has been a lesson. One that I think many of you can relate to, with more flexible work-remote options permeating the workplace.
The challenge and the joy of running my own biz is that there is only one person behind the scenes keeping things going, so letting my myself take more than a week off of teaching, emailing, planning, etc… was tough! It was definitely a practice and not always perfectly executed, but I tried to be gentle whenever my mind wandered away from the turquoise water in front of me and steer myself back to being present.
As I return to the NYC, I feel truly rested and excited to pick up where we left off! This community continues to be the reason I love what I do. Thank you for letting me take a few weeks to myself so that I can show up as my best self with all of you!
