Pilates for Grounding and Calm

I'm began writing this post fresh from the Fall Pilates With Abs Retreat Upstate at Lundy Farm. It was a magical weekend of movement and community building in nature. With every retreat I am more and more grateful for the opportunity to share my love of movement, nature and human connection with others.

We spent the weekend reflecting on being present and how we can best show up for ourselves and for each other. We processed and moved through all the emotion that came up, giving ourselves permission to feel it all.

Of course, the election was top of mind, challenging all of us to maintain our sense of grounding and calm. And as I finish writing this post, we’re in a different reality the day after the election. I, myself, have cycled through fear, grief, anxiety, anger and numbness on repeat today. Movement has always been my best coping strategy to channel and process my feelings, and while I didn’t feel like moving this morning, I got on my mat and I gave myself the 10 min prompt of “a hug in movement form.”

I will be listening, learning, and activating in due time, but for now, I’ll be here to move myself and you all through this first wave of grief. I will continue to create space for us to move together and process through movement and community.  Let's stay connected during this time of unknown and continue to show up for each other and for ourselves.

Need more support? Try taking a slow-paced Pilates class that focuses on breath and gentle movement. The “I Want To Feel Restored” Collection is a great place to start. Or try the Yin Yoga class that emphasizes holding postures for over two minutes to help both brain and body process and release.
